CHS track teams 1st, 2nd

c07 chstr2Photo by Wayne Crick Cedaredge’s Ryan Latta runs in the 400m dash last Friday at the 3A WSL meet in Grand Junction. Latta failed to qualify for state in the 400m but will compete at state in both the 800m and 1600m relay races for the Bruins.The 2013 track season has been good to the Cedaredge High School track teams. Coach Kirby Henderson's Lady Bruins scored 187 points to run away with the 3A WSL league title.

Bruins’ 3 doubles to state

b11 ten1Photo by Tamie Meck Playing at 3 doubles with partner Cassydy Zamarripa, Brittany Sullivan returns the ball against Glenwood Springs at the 4A Region 8 tennis tournament. Zamarripa and Sullivan placed second to qualify for the 4A state tournament in Denver.For the second consecutive year, the Cedaredge girls tennis team qualified a doubles team for the 4A state tennis tournament. The Bruins' 3 doubles team of Cassydy Zamarripa and Brittany Sullivan was seeded second going into the tournament.

Bruins roll past Aspen in 3A DH; await playoffs

b09 chsbbPhoto by Wayne Crick Cedaredge center fielder Peter Williamson comes to his feet after sliding safely into second base during game one of a double-header against Aspen last Saturday in Cedaredge. The Bruins had little trouble winning 11-2 and 12-2.After completing a double-header sweep over visiting Aspen, the Cedaredge Bruins finished with a 3A WSL mark of 12-4 and 13-6 overall to finish second behind Basalt (14-1, 15-2).

The Bruins spanked Aspen 11-2 in game one and scored a 12-2 decision in game two.

Cedaredge oval teams second at Bruin Invite

b08 chstr1Photo by Rich Meck Cedaredge hurdler Dante Markley (right) and Andy Bowles of Coal Ridge clear the final hurdle on the last curve together. Bowles was able to hold off Markley for the victory in a time of 39-30. Markley ran a 39.84.There were several new records set in both the girls' and boys' divisions at last Friday's Bruin Invitational track meet.

One of those new women's standards was set by Cedaredge senior Rachael Latta.
