Cedaredge oval teams second at Bruin Invite

b08 chstr1Photo by Rich Meck Cedaredge hurdler Dante Markley (right) and Andy Bowles of Coal Ridge clear the final hurdle on the last curve together. Bowles was able to hold off Markley for the victory in a time of 39-30. Markley ran a 39.84.There were several new records set in both the girls' and boys' divisions at last Friday's Bruin Invitational track meet.

One of those new women's standards was set by Cedaredge senior Rachael Latta.

CHS tennis team beats RF 5-2

b08 tenPhoto by Wayne Crick Cedaredge 2 singles player Sierra McHugh returns a shot from Roaring Fork’s Brianda Perea in a match played in Delta last week. McHugh won the match 6-2 and 6-1. The Lady Bruins defeated Roaring Fork 5-2 and enter Region 8 play today, May 1.Cedaredge hosted Roaring Fork on the courts at Cleland Park in Delta on May 23. The Lady Bruins rolled to a 5-2 victory with wins coming at one singles and two doubles for Roaring Fork.

Bruins ease past Gunnison

The visit in Gunnison for prep baseball wasn't exactly easy, but the final outcome of the double-header play went in favor of Cedaredge in both instances. The Bruins won game one 13-8 and then had to hold on tight to win the second contest 10-9.

Gates doubles up at meet

b06 chstr1Photo by Wayne Crick The Bruins’ Reid Gates sticks his landing in the long jump during competition at last week’s Montrose Invitational. Gates won the event with a jump of 21-4.5 and was also a winner in the high jump with an effort of 6-4.The Cedaredge Bruins track teams enjoyed the past week's weather while participating in the Montrose Invitational. The boys' team, behind first-place performances from Reid Gates, scored 63 points and placed fourth.
