Delta's Lady Panthers had a great start to their week in softball action with a 12-2 win in five innings over the visiting Eagle Valley Devils. A recently played contest between the same two teams on Sept. 7 was a 13-3 Delta win.
Freshman Lily Lockhart picked up the win after going five innings of no-hit softball. Lockhart, unfortunately, walked seven batters and hit another to account for Eagle Valley's two runs.
Tuesday's (Sept. 10) game was played in a steady rain and the Lady Panthers hurried to make short work of their opponent.
Delta scored twice in the opening inning after giving up a singleton to the Lady Devils.
It was all Delta after that with the Lady Panthers racing around the base paths for 10 runs in the second inning to take a 12-1 lead.
Eagle Valley scored one run in the third and that was all the scoring for the remainder of the game.
Delta had 12 runs on seven hits and committed one error in the game. Eagle Valley scored two runs on no hits and committed four errors in the five-inning contest.
Megan Sandoval had a pair of hits and four RBIs to pace Delta's offense. Bri Music also had two hits and drove in three runs (including a triple).
