On Saturday, the Bulldogs sent three into the finals and scored 102 points to place fifth at the Norwood Invitational. The tournament was not on their schedule, but the team signed up after missing the Feb. 1 Centauri dual tournament due to heavy snowfall in the region.
Toothaker (31-7) claimed the team's sole championship at Norwood, pinning teammate Colton Hall in 2:47 for the win. Hubbell (21-2) was runner-up after losing by a 7-4 decision to Randen Espinoza, a 33-3 junior from 4A Palisade.
Litzelman was 2-2 for the day and placed fourth after falling to Palisade's Chance Charlesworth. Donovan Sinka (132) and Parker Katzdorn (152) also placed fourth.
The Bulldogs will compete in the 3A Region 1 tournament at Middle Park this Friday and Saturday. The top four placers in each weight division will advance to the state tournament, which opens next Thursday at the Pepsi Center in Denver.blog comments powered by Disqus
