Three Hotchkiss and one Paonia football players were named to the Denver Post's 2011 Class 1A all-state football team. Hotchkiss Bulldogs' senior running back Jaime Rodriguez, senior offensive lineman Brice Simpson, and junior punter Jacobe Galley were all selected to the elite team.

Paonia's Myles Cumpston, a senior defensive lineman was also selected to the all-state squad.

In cross country, Hotchkiss' Natalie Anderson, for the second consecutive year, received both all-conference and all-state honors. Anderson, a sophomore and also a state champion distance runner for the Hotchkiss track team, placed fourth at the state cross country meet to help the Lady Bulldogs place third in the team race. Anderson was fourth at the regional meet held in Delta on Oct. 19.

According to head coach Kelly Cowan, this was the biggest team ever with 17 boys and 11 girls. Together, the team set 20 class records and set a team goal of both teams placing in the top 10.
