The Lady Bulldogs are playing competitive volleyball, but they just can't seem to finish with a win.
Their 3-1 loss Saturday to visiting Plateau Valley brings their record to 0-8.
Hotchkiss opened with a 25-17 loss. Hotchkiss was down by six, and started to get back in the game after middle hitter Katie Richards stepped on the court in time to score a solid kill.
The game was tied at 14-all on a serve error by Plateau Valley, and two low and fast serve aces sparked a rally by the Lady Cowboys.
Hotchkiss opened the second set with a 5-0 lead before PV came back to tie the game at 7-7 on an ace by Sierra Reynolds. A combination of little errors by PV and two kills by Brielle Palmer lifted Hotchkiss to a 20-13 lead, and an outside kill shot by Kayli Tallent and an ace by Daryl Batt gave Hotchkiss the 25-15 win.
In game three, the Lady Bulldogs watched an early 7-1 lead disappear after a slew of little errors, including a carry, one rotation error, and four consecutive attack errors. With a 20-16 lead, PV's Randy Schowalter slammed two kill shots into the Hotchkiss court. Plateau Valley played to a 25-20 win.
Hotchkiss did its best to rally back from a 10-point deficit in game four. Consecutive kills by Palmer, Richards and Shianne Wright brought Hotchkiss to within two, and another kill by Palmer left them trailing 24-23. Plateau Valley erred on a ball that would have landed out of bounds anyway, and a serve receive error by PV tied the game at 25. Hotchkiss ended the game on three kill errors for a 27-25 loss.
The Lady Bulldogs lost a league match Friday at Hayden. They travel to Meeker (5-5 overall, 3-0 1A/2A Western Slope League) this Friday, and host Vail Mountain (2-3, 1-1) Saturday at 3 p.m.blog comments powered by Disqus
