Head coach Eric Hollembeak credited the win to good defense. "We didn't shoot particularly well," said Hollembeak.
"But good things happen when you play good defense."
Hotchkiss led 22-8 at the half and held the Lady Cowboys to single-digit scoring in all four periods.
Lady Bulldog point guard Natalie Anderson scored nine first-quarter points and ended the game with a game-high 12 points.
Kylie Hodges added nine. Anderson, Marissa Cantrell and Arial Duncan all scored one trey in the win. Shooting guard Aleksus Wilson scored four points, and post Katie Richards scored five.
Hotchkiss was 3 of 14 (21 percent) from the free throw line.
The win gives the Lady Bulldogs a 3-0 record heading into this week's First Colorado National Bank Tournament at Delta High School.
Hotchkiss will open the FCNB tournament against Delta at 6 p.m. Friday. Winners play at 6 p.m. Saturday and losers at 3 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs have won the tournament four times since 1994 — the last time in 1999.
The Hotchkiss boys basketball team is 2-1 after defeating Plateau Valley, 68-29, Friday at Plateau Valley.
