The Bulldogs wrestled to a 4-3 dual record last week, including two 42-39 wins over Moffat County in two different wrestling venues in the past two weeks.
Wrestling at Delta High School on Jan. 23, the Bulldogs were down, 39-36 heading into the final match against Moffat County, also the Bulldogs, with Kale Litzelman pinning Moffat County freshman Indiana Byrnes late in the first round for the win.
Friday night the Bulldogs, who are open at 160, 170, 189 and 195 pounds this season, lost 63-15 at Olathe.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs were 3-2 at the eight-team Rumble in the Rockies dual tournament at Rifle High School. Losses came against Rifle (53-24) and Delta (63-17) and wins were against Gunnison (36-18), Grand Valley (54-24) and another 42-39 win over Moffat County.
Senior Jake Hubbell (106, 12-0) was 7-0 for the week, winning all but one match — a technical fall over Delta freshman Luke Anderson — by pinfall.
Garrett Toothaker (113, 21-5) was 6-1 for the week. Toothaker lost his second match of the season to freshman Justin O'Dell of Gunnison.
At 145 pounds, Wade Katzdorn was also 6-1, winning four matches by pinfall and two by forfeit. Katzdorn is now 17-8 for the season. In the upper weights, Tristen Todd was 5-2 for the week and Conner Collins was 4-3.
Hotchkiss also placed three junior varsity wrestlers at Saturday's Screaming Eagles tournament: Logan Mayberry (113) placed fourth, Colton Hall (106) and Joseph Nault (285) placed fifth.
