Paonia claims a win against HHS in tennis action

Rapke had the only win in Paonia’s 6-1 loss to the Lady Bulldogs.Hotchkiss claimed a 6-1 win over Paonia on March 26, at Paonia. Paonia opened with two losses due to the lack of three and four doubles teams.

Twinbill a fundraiser for Greg Podgorny family

Greg, a former college player and local little league coach, has been diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Proceeds from gate fees, hamburger sales, and a bake sale went to the Podgorny family. Slater was made an honorary team member for the day.Saturday's doubleheader between Paonia and Rangely doubled as a fund-raiser for the family of Greg Podgorny of Hotchkiss.

Podgorny, a husband and dad who is known for his great wit and wisdom and ability to brighten spirits wherever he goes, is also a big supporter of baseball.

PHS girls 1st, boys 4th in track

The Paonia girls earned the gold in six events and placed in the top four in 15 events to score 143.5 points to win the 13th annual Hotchkiss Invitational track meet Saturday.

Eagles unbeaten in 2A WSL baseball standings

The Eagles hit three home runs and had 13 RBIs in five innings.The Paonia nine went 3-1 in two double-headers last week. The Eagles split their first games in a non-conference series against Nucla (3-1 overall, 0-0 2A San Juan League) on March 26.

Local wrestlers to dual team from Germany

A team comprised of some of the area's top-ranked high school wrestlers will compete against a team from Germany in freestyle, or Olympic-style, wrestling this Saturday, March 30, at Central High School in Grand Junction. This style of wrestling varies from the style practiced in high school competition.
