Foreign exchange students play tennis

Henriette Reinhard, left, and Jiyeon Ahn, exchange students from Germany and South Korea, are attending Paonia High School. They decided to join the tennis team as part of their American experience.
Their names are Henriette and Jiyeon, but you can call them Henna and Jane.

Henna Reinhardt hails from Berlin, and Jiyeon Ahn from Goyang, South Korea.

Paonia track teams strong

Ben Linnell can jump. The first-year sophomore high jumper for Paonia can dunk a basketball with ease, but the high jump requires a slightly different set of skills, which Linnell is working on.

PHS tracksters coping

With little access to outdoor training facilities and athletes still recovering from winter sports, the Paonia track season is, well, off to a slow start. The Eagles boys earned 44 points to place eighth at Saturday's Delta Invitational, and the girls earned 11.7 points to place 14th.

Paonia sweeps twin-bill

The Eagle’s KC Christian rounds second on a sacrifice bunt by Tyler Kendall in a game one of a conference doubleheader against Rangely. Playing against tougher teams in the opening games of the season is paying off for Paonia.
Paonia had them right where they wanted them.

In game one of Saturday's doubleheader against Rangely, the Panthers were in a tight spot.

Eagles fall to Delta 5-4 in bottom of seventh

The Panthers’ Jordan Sandoval hits a line drive single to center field in Delta’s 5-4 win over Paonia in last weekend’s Lloyd McMillan Baseball Tournament.
After losing to them in a pre-season scrimmage, the Paonia Eagles were hoping to end the Lloyd McMillan baseball tournament with a win over Delta, or at worst a tie. But despite a close game and a slight lead for much of the game, a solid team effort down the stretch gave Delta the edge at the end of the game.
