Carsten tops five-foot mark

Ce’rra Carsten clears the high jump bar at five feet, one inch at the 2013 state 2A track meet in Lakewood. It was the first time in her four-year career in track to break the five-foot mark. The jump earned her a sixth-place finish. Starting this fall, Carsten will compete for Colorado Mesa University, but not in track. Carsten, who comes from a ranching family, has joined the school’s rodeo team and will compete in barrel racing and goat tying. “They’ve had a team since about 1964,” said Carsten, an all-state volleyball player who got into competitive rodeo last summer. “But no one’s really known about it.”
