Paonia earned five championships and 270 points to win the annual tournament.The 24th annual Screaming Eagle wrestling tournament was a who's who of top wrestlers from the Western Slope and beyond, all looking for some tough competition as the regional and state tournaments approach. They came from as close as Cedaredge and as far away as Center, Sargent, Ignacio and Custer County.

Paonia plays at West Grand High School Friday and at North Park Saturday. Paonia’s next home game is Feb. 1 against Vail Christian.The Lady Eagles upped their record to 8-3 overall, 2-0 in the 2A Western Slope conference with wins over Soroco and Hayden.

Guard Braiden Clement made two three-pointers for a game-high 16 points in Paonia's 74-36 win Friday at Soroco (7-3, 0-2).
