As Western Slope League champions, the Lady Eagles were guaranteed a spot in this week's regional volleyball tournament, regardless of where they placed at the District 5 tournament.

Paonia girls fourth in CC

Polson finished ninth, despite stopping to help another runner who had collapsed on the course. The junior was hoping to end the season in the top five and was running a strong race, said head coach Richard Hypio.

Eagles carry one seed into 2A district net play

Paonia ended the regular season undefeated in league play and is seeded first heading into the district tournament at West Grand High School in Kremmling.The Lady Eagles' volleyball team clenched the 2A Western Slope League title after a three-game win Thursday at Plateau Valley (25-12, 25-15, 27-25). They went on to beat Rangely in four on Saturday at Rangely (25-20, 19-25, 25-18, 25-14).

Paonia XC teams set to go

Junior Jason Sturgis is keenly aware that he still has another year remaining on the Paonia cross country team. "I'm just kind of running for fun still," said Sturgis, who is the top-ranked runner for the first-year Eagles team.
