Information from the Cedaredge Ladies Golf Club's annual "Sizzler" Invitation was played on June 4-5. Results from the tournament were misplaced and recently found.

Since this has been one of the more reported golf tournaments for many years, this year's results appear in the following story. Again, sincerest apologies for not presenting the story in an earlier edition of The Delta County Independent.

This year's "Sizzler" started off with a "Horse Race." A team of four players were given challenges along the course's route of play. Mud buckets were placed in sand traps for some of the holes of play. There were no winners for landing in the buckets according to tournament results. On hole number two, players had to tee off with a stick horse (held by a partner) protruding between the hitter's legs.

Winners of the "Horse Race" were Barb Murphy, Sharon Kreutzen, Becky Brown and Archie Wethington. Second place winners included Nancy Sturgill and Jeannie Pippin.

Third place went to Betsy Frazier, Terry Roberts, Ruth Bentley and Jean Labree.

After being welcomed by Cedaredge Golf Club pro Larry Murphy on Tuesday, the ladies were split into three flights and play began.

First Flight winners included Pam Berger and Nondis Lowther (First Gross), Robin Minker and Margie Landis (Second Gross), and Kathy Short and Debra Kirah (Third Gross). Net winners for the First Flight included Betsy Frazier and Terry Roberts, Barb Murphy and Sharon Kreutzen (Second Net), and Teresera Jaskunas and Peggy Brink (Third Net).

Second Flight winners in Gross play included Chris Anderson and Karen Locke (first), Barb Churchley and Laura Betts (second), and Breda Burke and Tracy Brown (third).

Net winners for the Second Flight included Helen Carnerd and Helen Fleichmann (first), Cindy Gilbert and Phylis Finley (second), Vickie Rupp and Nancy Stevens and Julia Conrad and Lisa Whitmore (tie for third).

Sharon Williams and Alice Brown won the First Gross prize in Third Flight play. Sharon Johnson and Diane Seever placed second in Gross play with Donna Harm and Nancy Baker placing third.

Net winners from the Third Flight included Becky Brown and Archie Wethington, Karen Helbert and Randy Palmer (second), with a tie for third between the teams of Ruth Bentley and Jean Labree and Susan Meyer and Kathy Squires.

Post-play entertainment included the Cedaredge Ladies Golf Club men dressing in vintage ladies golf attire from days gone by and up to the present time. Geri Wilkins ended the parade of golfers wearing a "green jacket" to symbolize women in "The Masters."

A luncheon and awards followed at the Wild Fire restaurant. Vickie Rupp was the top putter in a putting contest and won a new putter to end this year's Sizzler activities.

The lady golfers send a big thanks to all the people who helped make the tournament a success.
