Both Wells Fargo and H & R finished 10-2 on the regular season with H & R claiming the league title on a tie-breaker.
This year's regular season saw some lopsided wins for several teams. Tournament play, with the exception of one game, was a battle of close games.
The biggest margin for a winning team this year (tournament play) was 18-2 in the semi-final round when Wells Fargo blasted Republic Mortgage 18-2.
All opening round games were one-run affairs. Game one featured H & R in a thrilling 17-16 come-from-behind win over a determined Overholt Truss team.
Game two was a 3-2 defensive win for Wells Fargo over Republic Mortgage.
In the evenings' (July 12) finale, H & R took on Wells Fargo for a spot in the title game on July 19. H & R used some late-game magic to pull off an 8-7 win that sent Wells Fargo into the losers' bracket.
Republic fell to Wells in the semi-final game (game five)18-2 and was eliminated.
There wasn't much doubt as to which two teams had the inside track to the championship game. There were some bumps along the way, but H & R found themselves playing for the tournament title against their long-time rivals, Wells Fargo.
Wells Fargo had the lead early and there was speculation of there being another championship game with H & R trailing late in the game. A last-inning rally provided enough offense to allow H & R to post a 4-2 victory.
Not many players were concerned about the 45-plus game winning streak H & R had before their first loss to Wells Fargo early in the season. H & R's Bear Duran was just happy to be on the winning team and didn't want to even try and figure out the wins and losses.
