Last weekend, Bill Heddles Recreation Center hosted its annual Denver Nuggets Skills Challenge. There were 34 participants ranging in age from seven to 14 years old.
The young athletes were divided into gender and age groups for ages 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14.
The annual competition is designed to allow youngsters to showcase their talents in dribbling, passing and shooting. This is a youth program produced by the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Parks & Recreation Association with support from the City of Delta.
Top scorers from each division advance to sectional competition. From there the winners move on to a state championship which is held in conjunction with a Denver Nuggets home game at Pepsi Center some time in March. That date will be determined later.
