Surface Creek resident Gary Fleischmann died July 9, 2013, at Horizons Care Center in Eckert. He was 71.
A memorial service was held July 13 at Eckert Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jo DeVinny presiding.
Gary Ray Fleischmann was born in Lincoln, Neb., Sept. 6, 1941, to Gayle and Margaret (Erickson) Fleischmann. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Lincoln, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1959. He attended the University of Nebraska, and in 1970 earned a master’s degree at University of Arizona.
He married Sally Dale Dec. 28, 1963, in Lincoln, Neb. They lived in Omaha, Neb., until moving to Cedaredge 13 years ago. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
Mr. Fleischmann was a retired nuclear engineer. He enjoyed his family, fishing, golfing and spending time in his garden. He was a member of Cedaredge Rotary Club and Cedaredge Golf Club. He was a member of Eckert Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Fleischmann of Cedaredge; one son, David Fleischmann and wife Brooke of Broomfield; two daughters, Ann Fleischmann and husband Brian Kane of Cambridge, Mass., and Sara Stoddart and husband Jeff of Grand Junction; one sister, Marlene Mink and husband George of Greenwood, Neb.; and three grandchildren, Jonah Kane, and Garrett and Laurel Fleischmann.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ecekrt Presbyterian Church or Cedaredge Rotary Club.
