Art show opens at Blue Sage

On Saturday, May 25, Elsewhere Studios' resident artists Jamie Gibson from England and Laura Scandrett from Los Angeles will give a presentation of their work at the Blue Sage Center for the Arts from 6 to 8 p.m. Their work will be in the gallery until May 29.

Foreign exchange student to speak

Joanna Briese, Paonia High School junior and German foreign exchange student, will give a slide show presentation of her year here on Tuesday, May 28, at 6 p.m. at the Paonia Library. Together with her host family, Seraya and Merrily Talbott, they will tell stories and answer questions.

Golf tournament benefits child advocacy center

The Dolphin House Child Advocacy Center in Montrose will hold its third annual golf tournament Saturday, June 8, at The Bridges Golf Club. This year's tournament is being held in memory of Owen Daniel Reak, an 18-month-old child whose severe physical abuse resulted in death in 2012.

Rock, gem show set for June 1

The Delta County Rock, Gem and Mineral Show will be held Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bill Heddles Recreation Center, 530 Gunnison River Drive, Delta. Featured items will include lighted mineral and specimen displays, gold panning, a fluorescent mineral display, demonstrations on wire wrapping, and educational displays for children.
