A fall off a horse resulted in a Hotchkiss woman being airlifted by helicopter to St. Mary's Hospital. Lynn Graziano, 60, was knocked unconscious and suffered a laceration to the back of her head and a concussion.
Graziano was in a riding party of four when the accident happened north of Dyer Creek near Crawford on Saturday, Sept. 26.
West Elk Mountain Rescue, Crawford Fire Department, the North Fork Ambulance Association and the Gunnison County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene. Graziano was taken out of the area on a litter. The helicopter left around 7:30 p.m. to transport Graziano to St. Mary's. She was released from the hospital on Monday. West Elk Mountain Rescue, the North Fork Ambulance and the Gunnison County Sheriff's Department responded to another accident Sunday, Sept. 27. A call for help was received from an unidentified husband and wife at Dollar Lake on Kebler Pass. When emergency crews arrived, the pair were walking out of the area. The husband had been able to make a splinter for his wife's leg. The 55-year-old woman declined medical care for her injury.
