Connie Willet, Pennie Alexander and Hendrika Cegielski, once again join together in a three woman show, “Sisters of the Eleventh Moon,” taking place at the Creamery Arts Center (CAC) in Hotchkiss during November. An opening reception will be held on Friday Nov. 13, 6-8 p.m. Connie Willett is an accomplished fiber artist and photographer, who moved to the area 15 years ago to escape the cold, bitter winters of Wisconsin. She currently lives south of Crawford, at the base of the West Elks with her husband and two dogs. Her stunning photographs will hang in the Creamery’s Churro Gallery, a perfect place to view her extensive body of work. Her fabric art can be seen throughout the entire Creamery. Pennie Alexander and Hendrika Cegielski are showing together in the Creamery’s Peach Gallery. Realizing that Southwest art needed more representation in the area, both artists are concentrating their multiple media talents with large and small sculpture, weaving, oil paintings, pastels, gourd art, and even leather. Many of their pieces reflect their love and respect for our Southwest. These three Crawford women are honored to have Native American flute artist Bobby Jimenez play during their reception. On the “wall” between the Peach and Young Artists galleries, the Black Canyon Camera Club will offer their first showing as a newly formed group. The Black Canyon Camera Club consists of several photographers who met at a Delta Fine Arts Association gathering and got together to have fun field trips, learn from each other and promote photography locally with shows of their work. They are interested in expanding membership and encourage local photographers to come to their opening and find out more. Photographers included in the show are Rae Ann Simmons, Brandi Maher, Norman Gibbs, Kathy Conlon, Tom Friel, David Short, John Mitchell and Mary Hockenbery. The Hotchkiss Community Chamber of Commerce will also present Business of the Year and Citizen of the Year Awards during the reception. Refreshments, beverages, micro brews and wine will be served. The Creamery Arts Center is located at 165 West Bridge Street in Hotchkiss. For more information call 872-4848 or visit www.northforkarts.org. The Creamery is open Monday-Saturday 11-6 and Sunday 11-4.
