Over the past decade, some of the Surface Creek Valley’s great community organizations have been the beneficiaries of what has become an annual tradition – the Fritchmans Annual End of the Season Apple and Fruit Sale. This year, on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Cedaredge High School Future Farmers of America Chapter will join that growing list of community groups and receive the proceeds of this year’s sale. Some of the FFA members will be on hand that day helping out with the sale at the Fritchmans’ Fruit Stand on Highway 65 just north of Eckert The FFA’ers will be there to greet and assist customers who come to take advantage of the last chance values on some of the best and freshest local fruit you can get. You won’t find a better or more deserving group of young people anywhere in Delta County than the Cedaredge FFA members. The life and work skills they learn while pursuing their educations in vocational agriculture at CHS will form the basis of Delta County’s agriculture future, and they will continue the local heritage, strong rural traditions and values that support this area’s most important industry. The Fritchmans will have cookie snacks and coffee on hand for everyone to enjoy. So don’t feel rushed, but take a little extra time to appreciate all the things that we have to be thankful for living in such a beautiful place as Delta County, and with such great people like the Cedaredge FFA Chapter members as our friends and neighbors.
