The Paradise Theatre welcomes back to the stage Austin, Texas-based songwriter Eliza Gilkyson, along with guitarist Nina Gerber.

Eliza Gilkyson and Nina Gerber will perform on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m.

Gilkyson is a Grammy-nominated, poetically gifted singer-songwriter and activist who has become one of the most respected musicians in roots, folk and Americana circles. The daughter of legendary songwriter Terry Gilkyson, Eliza has been in the business since a very young girl.

Eliza has appeared on NPR’s “All Things Considered,” “Austin City Limits,” Mountain Stage, Etown, XM and Air America Radio. She has toured worldwide, with the Woody Guthrie Show, “Ribbon of Highway~Endless Skyway,” and as a solo artist she has toured with Richard Thompson, Patty Griffin, Jackson Browne, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Kris Kristofferson. In February of 2003 she was inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame alongside an exclusive list of greats including Willie Nelson, Townes Van Zandt, Nanci Griffith, Billy Joe Shaver, Butch Hancock, Joe Ely and others. In 2006 she was recognized with three Austin Music Awards at SXSW including “Best Song” and “Best Songwriter” and four Folk Alliance International Music Awards.

Her most recent album, “Beautiful World,” (2008) is an evocative collection of songs that has Eliza stepping out further mixing Americana, rock, jazz and folk styles. For her full schedule, song lyrics, recordings and other information, visit www.elizagilkyson.com.

Touring with Eliza Gilkyson is guitarist, producer and arranger Nina Gerber. She is foremost recognized as Kate Wolf’s accompanist and close musical companion for eight years until Wolf’s passing. Though her time with Kate Wolf brought her to national prominence, Gerber has carved out her identity with the ability to free herself within a range of styles, whether folk, country, bluegrass, rock or blues. Emphasizing taste over technical display, her fingers communicate and share the reverence and integrity of the true feeling of a song.

Besides Kate Wolf, Nina has performed and/or recorded with: Nanci Griffith, Greg Brown, Laurie Lewis, Lucy Kaplansky, Mollie O’Brien, Dave Alvin, Karla Bonoff, Rosalie Sorrels, John Gorka, Cheryl Wheeler, Tom Paxton and many others. She is also a gifted producer and arranger. For more information about Nina, please visit www.ninagerber.com.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. They are available at The Paradise Theatre Box Office and KVNF Radio, on-line at www.paradiseofpaonia.com or by calling 527-6610.

The Paradise Theatre is located at 215 Grand Avenue in downtown Paonia.
