A celebration of life service was held June 1 at Delta United Methodist Church with Dr. Roy Trueblood officiating. A private burial took place at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction. Mrs. Blevins was born Oct. 21, 1926, in Maybell, to William and Jessie (Jacobsen) Pierce. She spent her childhood in the Maybell and Craig areas. She graduated from high school in Craig and attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction.
She married Robert Blevins on June 16, 1946, in Craig. They celebrated 57 years of marriage. He died in 2004. Mrs. Blevins lived in Rangely for nine years, Kimball, Neb., for seven years, Glendive, Mont., for four years, Cody, Wyo., for nine years and Riverton, Wyo., for four years before moving to Delta in 1980.
She worked for the Internal Revenue Service, as a secretary for the Stanolind Oil and Gas Company and as secretary for school districts in Glendive and Cody. She participated in many amateur musicals and plays in Glendive, Cody, Riverton and Delta. She was a member of Delta United Methodist Church since 1980 and was a member of the choir and bell choir. She was active in the United Methodist Women, member at large of the church and participated in numerous committees. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi since 1964 and held many offices and degrees in Perceptor Gamma Alpha. She was a member of Delrose Chorus of Sweet Adelines and the Grand Mesa Choral Society. She was a member of TOPS since 1978 and held several positions. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling and sharing new experiences with people.
Mrs. Blevins is survived by two sons and their wives, Dr. Rick and Ginger Blevins of Great Falls, Mont., and Dave and Pilar Blevins of Castle Rock; two daughters and their husbands, Cathie and Tom Monahan of Parker, and Karen and Bill Bapst of Fruita; two sisters, Rena Tucker of Tucson, Ariz., and Donna Brady and her husband Lorain of Mount Pleasant, Utah; a brother and his wife, Roy and Carmie Pitney of Hayden; 10 grandchildren, Mac Blevins, Sarah Bittner, Caitlin Blevins, Jennifer Blevins, Nicolas Blevins, Ryan Mona-han, Mikaylee Monahan, Shelly Hurt, Shandee Talley and Taya McCallum; nine great-grandchildren, Wyatt Hurt, Spencer Hurt, Brody Bittner, Paige Bittner, Callie Bittner, Sean McCallum, Tessa McCallum, Jordan Talley, and Abby Talley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
