The cardiopulmonary department at Delta County Memorial Hospital has earned national recognition as a Quality Respiratory Care Institution for 2008 by the American Association for Respiratory Care. The QRCR designation is important because it gives consumers a measure of confidence that the respiratory care they are receiving in their local health care facilities is of the highest quality. Only 700 hospitals out of the 5,000 hospitals in the United States receive this recognition.

“In order for a hospital to receive this recognition, all of the respiratory therapists employed by the hospital to deliver bedside respiratory care services must be licensed by the state as certified respiratory therapists or registered respiratory therapists,” said Rachel Oberheu RRT, director of cardiopulmonary services at Delta County Memorial Hospital.

“We also must provide respiratory therapists 24 hours per day and have a physician designated as the medical director overseeing the provision of respiratory services,” Oberheu said. Delta County Memorial Hospital‘s cardiopulmonary medical director is Scott Rich MD. The respiratory staff at Delta County Memorial Hospital has met these quality criteria for a number of years.

Staff members include: Rob Bradshaw, RRT; Larry Cassioppi, RRT; Donna Cok, RRT; Tammy Leffel, RRT; Bruce Nyblom, RRT; Mark Orr, CRT; Sandy Perrin, RRT; Tommy Russell, CRT; Ricky Smith, RRT; and Rachel Oberheu, RRT, department director.

Delta County Memorial Hospital is proud to recognize its cardiopulmonary staff for meeting the high quality care standards required for them to receive this national recognition and for the outstanding care they provide to hospital patients.
