Stella Marie Ordenana of Montrose died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at her home. She was 74.
Mrs. Ordenana was born Sept. 25, 1934, in Montrose, to Emilio and Pauline (Carabajal) Belarde. She spent her childhood in Montrose, graduating from Montrose High School in 1953.![]() She married Pedro Barayazarra in 1959. They celebrated 31 years of marriage. He died in 1990. Mrs. Ordenana was a teacher’s aide at Northside Elementary School for over 30 years, where she was known as “Mrs. B.” She was currently employed as a toddler teacher assistant in Olathe for the Head Start migrant education program. She enjoyed children, bingo and bowling on various leagues. Mrs. Ordenana is survived by her husband, Manuel Ordenana of Montrose; a daughter, Nancy Geary of Grand Junction; a son, Serafin Barayazarra of Lakewood; a sister, Emily Duran of Commerce City; and four grandchildren, Elishia Geary, Amanda Geary, Alexander Barayzarra and Marcelino Barayazarra. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Belarde, Eddie Belarde and Leroy Belarde; and one sister, Jennie Romero. Rosary was recited Nov. 2 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass was held Nov. 3 at St. Mary’s. Rite of committal followed Mass at Grand View Cemetery in Montrose. Crippin Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
