Art Briggs, a familiar face on Delta's main street, has died at the age of 70. Cigarette in hand, Art could be seen pushing his bike to and from his home at the Delta House.
He was employed to sweep sidewalks and parking lots by a number of downtown businesses, including Wells Fargo where he was a fixture for at least 14 years.
Little is known about Art. Delta House records indicate he was born Sept. 4, 1938, to Arthur and Grace (Davis) Briggs. He has two brothers, Richard and Walice, both of whom are deceased. Visitation is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cedaredge Cemetery.
