Mrs. Lopez was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Colfax, N.M., to Eu-baldo and Clorinda (Fernandez) Guara. She spent her childhood and attended school in Ocate, N.M. She married Manuel Lopez in Montrose. He died May 22, 2004.
Mrs. Lopez lived in Edge-water before moving to Montrose. She enjoyed bingo, spending time with her family, meeting and visiting with friends, and talking on the phone.
She is survived by four sons, Carlos Guara, Manuel Lopez and his wife Kathy, Romolo Lopez and his wife Ofelia, all of Montrose, and Rudy Lopez and his wife Lydia of Pea Green; three daughters, Lucinda Mascarenas, Kathy Lovato and her husband Dicky, all of Montrose, and Christine Lopez-Herrera and her husband Mike of Lafayette; two brothers, Joe Guara and Ted Guara; four sisters, Beatrice Alcon, Edith Maestas, Lillian Martinez and Isabell Gonzales; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lopez was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Lopez; a six-month-old son, Jerry; two sisters, Delia Martinez and Evelyn Leal; and a brother, Fidel Guara. A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 7, at 3 p.m. at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel in Montrose. Cremation has taken place.
