Inge Wilke Lange | Obituary,

Inge Wilke Lange

On May 17, 2017, Inge Lange passed away at her home in Paonia, Colo., following a long and brave battle with cancer. Her loving family was by her side.

Inge Wilke Lange was born July 9, 1936 in Berlin, Germany. In 1956, she met her future husband, Ulrich Lange, at the popular Eierschale jazz club where they loved to dance. They married in 1961 and remained a happy couple raising three children. In 1964, the growing family immigrated to the United States and lived in various places before spending many happy years on their farm in Marianna, Pa., and the last 10 years in Paonia, where they made a beautiful home.

Besides taking care of her family, "Mutti" especially enjoyed books and libraries, knitting, Scrabble, opera and cultural events, swimming, hiking, gardening, traveling the world and keeping up on current events with her family and friends. Wherever she lived, she actively volunteered her time to community and civic groups. The friendships she made span two continents.

Deceased are her parents, Heinz Wilke and Elisabeth Wilke, and her adoring in-laws, Ulrich and Anneliese Lange, all from Germany. Surviving are her loving husband, Ulli, and her children Jens (Debbie) of Nova Scotia, Canada, Lars of Marianna, Pa., and Barbara (Stephen Cohen) of White Plains, N.Y. Also surviving are her grandchildren Jason (Ellen) Lange of Birmingham, Ala., Anneliese (Nick) Weyrauch of Farmington, N.M., and Nick Cohen of Great Falls, Mont.

Arrangements will be private and are being arranged by Taylor Funeral Home, Paonia. Celebrations of Inge's life are being planned for Paonia, Marianna, Pa., and in Germany.
