Dear Editor:

We would like to thank everyone for their support during 2016. This year, through November, we have rehomed 52 dogs and 89 dogs have been returned to their owners. New homes have been found for 130 cats. Thanks very much to adopters and owners who take great care of their pets.

Our shelter is possible because of Best Friends Animal Hospital, Clark Martin, DVM, Sue Martin and the wonderful staff at Best Friends. The customers at the Shelter Shoppe in Cedaredge, and the amazing volunteers who operate it make a huge contribution to our operational costs. Our shelter staff keeps the cats and dogs well fed, loved and the building spic and span. Dogs are walked every day by volunteers and they absolutely love it! So many businesses and individuals have held fundraisers and made donations to our building fund that we are in a good position to show community support and apply for grant funds which will make replacement of the trailer possible. The Town of Cedaredge deeded the shelter property to us increasing our stability.

We absolutely love our community and feel privileged to be able to provide animal shelter and adoption services to the Surface Creek Valley.
