Jack Neil Brown of Cedaredge died Nov. 7, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. He was 78.
A funeral service was held Nov. 13 at the Grand Mesa Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Scroggins officiating.
Mr. Brown was born in Detroit, Mich., on March 14, 1939, to Jack and Katherine (Cole) Brown. His family moved from Detroit to California when he was seven years old. He attended school at Bell Flower and Compton High School in Compton, Calif. He attended two years of Bible college.
Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Army and was an aircraft upholsterer.
On April 8, 1967, he married Penelope "Penny" Paullos in Downey, Calif. They moved from Cypress, Calif., to Cedaredge 23 years ago.
Mr. Brown was a member of the Grand Mesa Baptist Church in Cedaredge. He was also a member of the NRA and Cedaredge Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed growing roses, fishing, shooting and reloading.
He is survived by his wife, Penny of Cedaredge; son, Mark (Carolyn) of Westminster; two brothers, David (Bea) Blair of Cypress, Calif., and Pete (Marilyn) Blair Sr. of Mesquite, Nev.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie.

The Delta County Ambulance District responded to a call from the Montrose Dispatch Center at 5:16 p.m. Saturday, April 21, regarding an injured turkey hunter on the Uncompahgre Plateau. Deputies and EMS responded and found Kyle Cody Duran, 23, of Montrose deceased on arrival.
