Jack Hibbert

Longtime Delta County resident John W. "Jack" Hibbert died Oct. 29, 2016, at Horizons Care Center. He was 94.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Interment will follow at Eckert Cemetery.

Mr. Hibbert was born in Clark March 17, 1922, to William and Antonette (Lester) Hibbert. He spent his childhood in Steamboat Springs and after graduating from school, served his country in the Army Signal Corps. He served during World War II.

On Dec. 24, 1942, he married Iris Muirhead in Steamboat Springs.

Mr. Hibbert belonged to the Electrical Union IBEW 969. He enjoyed fishing, painting and woodworking. He was a master craftsman.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Iris Hibbert of Eckert; one son, John Hibbert of Florissant; one daughter, Judy Eggleston of Glenwood Springs; one brother, Ben Hibbert of Grand Junction; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hibbert was preceded in death by one son, Gary Hibbert; one brother, Phil Hibbert; and two sisters, Dorothy Rehder and his twin, Virginia Dobson.
