Longtime Cedaredge resident James "Jim" Davis died Nov. 14, 2016, at home. He was 65.
A memorial service was held Monday, Nov. 21, at New Hope Evangelical Free Church in Cedaredge with Pastor Dave Williams officiating.
He was born Dec. 10, 1950, in Delta to Alvin and Anna (Rose) Davis. He spent his childhood on Redlands Mesa. He graduated from Cedaredge High School in 1969 and earned his bachelor's degree in social science in 1973 from Colorado State University.
On Aug. 28, 1971, he married Linda "Lee" Poulter in Denver. They had four children.
In 1980, he earned his master's degree in education and administration from Western State College. He taught history and psychology at Delta High School for 10 years and then at Cedaredge Middle School for 20 years before retiring.
Mr. Davis enjoyed NASCAR and his family, and was a member of the New Hope Evangelical Free Church in Cedaredge.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lee Davis of Cedaredge; son, Ben (Kelly) Davis of Cedaredge; daughter, Sara (Dave) Boman of Barnesville, Minn.; son, Zack (Emily) Davis of Fort Collins; son, Evan Davis of Cedaredge; sister, Carol (Bob) Dorsett of Meeker; and three granddaughters, Alysia Brooks, Krystal Davis and Kailey Boman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Red and Jeannie Davis.

At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
