James "Clown Jim" Robert Hoffbauer died Aug. 5, 2017, at his home in Cedaredge. He was 64.
He was born to Max and Dorothy Hoffbauer on Dec. 13, 1952, in Davenport, Iowa. In 1958, the family moved to Englewood and he graduated from Englewood Senior High School in 1971. He earned an associate degree in water-wastewater technology from Community College of Denver in 1983. He worked as a Class A water treatment plant operator until 2010.
On Jan. 21, 2017, he celebrated his 27th sobriety birthday. He enjoyed spreading the message of serenity and recovery with others. He also enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren.
He is survived by his two sons, Justin (Jennie) Hoffbauer and Steven (Kristin) Hoffbauer; five granddaughters, Azalee, Alaiha, Ayralin, Lily and Evelyn; sisters, Gwen Willner and Sue Buck; and three nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A meeting in remembrance of Mr. Hoffbauer will be held Aug. 17 from 12-1 p.m. at the Friends of Bill Club in Delta.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
