Janice Violett died April 15, 2016, at HopeWest Care Center in Grand Junction. She was 77.
She was born in Hotchkiss Sept. 23, 1938, to Walter and Emily (MacKendrick) Lynch. She grew up in Crawford and graduated from Crawford High School in 1956.
She worked for Mountain Bell and retired after many years of service.
Mrs. Violett is survived by three daughters, Shirley Sinclair of Wapiti, Wyo., Sandra McKenney of Grand Junction and Julie (Dan) Ostrander of Pavones, Costa Rica; five grandchildren, Casey Sinclair, Katy Sinclair, Dylan McKenney, Sidney McKenney and Ella Ostrander; two brothers, Danny (Pat) Lynch of Montrose and Dick Lynch of Rifle; and a sister, Debbie (Rick) Whitfield of Montrose.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Violett.
A celebration of life was held Wednesday, April 20, in the Lakeside community room at 3050 Lakeside Drive, Grand Junction.

The seventh annual Eckert Crane Days, the annual viewing of the sandhill cranes migrating north from New Mexico through Colorado's West Slope, will be March 16-18. Representatives from the Black Canyon Chapter of the Audubon Society (BCAS) will be at the viewing site east of Eckert at Fruitgrowers Reservoir, 9 to 11 a.m. each day, to answer questions and provide binoculars and spotting scopes.
