Mabel "Jeane" Ruby died Dec. 10, 2015, at Colorow Care Center in Olathe. She was 88.
Mrs. Ruby was born Aug. 7, 1927, in McCook, Neb., to Ora and Lillian (Mills) Clopton. She was raised in McCook and in North Denver.
On April 1, 1947, she married Don Ruby. They lived in Kansas, South Dakota, Nebraska and Colorado. They were longtime residents of Limon.
Mrs. Ruby worked as a telephone operator and as a correspondent for The Limon Leader.
She enjoyed road trips, cooking, baking, sewing and playing the piano. She was active in the Limon United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and Red Hats.
Don died in June 2012, and a short time later Mrs. Ruby moved to Delta to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.
She is survived by her four children, Jeri of Pittsburgh, Pa., Gary (Barb) Ruby of Castle Rock, Pat (Randy) Sunderland of Delta, and Ric (Maria) Ruby of Elkhorn, Wis.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, with the eighth due in February.
She was preceded in death by two older siblings, Bob and Betty.
Cremation has taken place; a memorial service will be held at a later date.
