Lifetime Delta County resident Jerry D. Boyd died Monday, July 18, 2016, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Grand Junction. He was 76.
A celebration of life was held July 22 at Delta Christian Church. Interment followed at Delta City Cemetery.
Mr. Boyd was born in Delta July 26, 1939, to Pat and Edith (Cole) Boyd. He spent his childhood and attended school in Delta, graduating from Delta High School in 1957. After high school he joined the National Guard.
On April 10, 1965, he married Janet Stevens in Delta.
Mr. Boyd was a member of the National Rifle Association, Delta Trap Club and Thunder Mountain Wheelers. He enjoyed playing golf, trap shooting, four-wheeling, NASCAR, watching the Broncos and most of all, watching his grandkids play sports.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet Boyd of Austin; daughter, Lori (Steve) Reiher of Delta; son, Darren (Kim) Boyd of Grand Junction; grandchildren, Keaton and Blake Reiher and Aubrie Boyd; and a half-sister, Connie Lampton of Delta.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepdad, Jim Purcell; a sister, Patty Boyd Schroeder; and a brother, Mancel.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
