Jerry Keith Jones died May 10, 2017, at his home in Cal-Nev-Ari, Nev. He was 77.
He was born in Cedaredge on Feb. 13, 1940, to Darrell and Lavene (Hawkins) Jones.
On May 16, 1958, he married Eula Mae Lyen.
Mr. Jones worked in construction most of his life and was a master equipment operator. He began as a laborer for Schmidt Tiago Construction Company at 19 and worked his way up to superintendent. In 1979, he started his own construction business and sold it in 1997. He served as an advisor/consultant for Summit until he retired.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, riding ATVs, exploring the country and spending time with family. He also enjoyed restoring his 1977 Ford Flare Side pickup.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eula Mae Jones; his daughters, Shelli (Leland) Archibald, Konni (Bob) Overturf; and his brother, Darren Jones.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karri Sherrill of Cedaredge; and two brothers, Jim Jones of Montrose and Dennis Jones of Cedaredge.
At his request, no services will be held.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
