Jerry Lee Kitsmiller

Jerry Kitsmiller, age 76, passed away on July 8, 2017, at his home in Montrose, Colo.

Jerry Lee Kitsmiller was born on Oct. 20, 1940, in Grand Junction, Colo., to parents, Lee and Stella Kitsmiller. He graduated from Montrose High School in 1958. Following his education, Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country for four years. He worked as a meat cutter for City Market for 22 years and following his retirement worked another 15 years at Gordon Composites.

Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing and making knives but most of all he adored his family. His wife, children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and they loved him dearly. Jerry was also loved by his friends and the Montrose community. He was a hard worker, wonderful husband, father and Papa. Jerry was richly loved and will be truly and dearly missed. After he retired, Jerry treasured his time with his granddaughter, Markie. She was his little angel and wherever Papa went, Markie followed too. Markie adored her Papa and her heart is broken by his untimely passing.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sherry Kitsmiller of Montrose, Colo.; five children, Jerry Kitsmiller and wife, Kandy of Phoenix, Ariz.; Neysa Smith (Matt) of Pennsylvania; Tanya Hawk (Rick La-Pena) of Montrose, Colo.; John Kitsmiller of Prescott, Ariz.; and Brent Hawk (Collene) of Castle Rock, Colo.; grandchildren, Justin, Jeremy, Christopher, Markie, Trinity and Tymberlynd.

At Jerry's request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be at a later date.
