Jerold "Jerry" Lewis Trupp died unexpectedly Dec. 30, 2015, after a brief illness. He was 77.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.
Mr. Trupp was born in Hastings, Neb., July 31, 1938, to Viola Marquis and Adam Trupp. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1956. In 1960 he graduated from the University of Nebraska where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
He was in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Sill, Okla. Following his discharge, he moved to Denver.
He married Mary Miller in 1964. They had two daughters.
He worked at Gates Manufacturing during the day and attended law school at Denver University at night. He received his law degree in 1968.
Mr. Trupp moved with his family to Delta where he was a partner in the Willett and Trupp law firm before opening his own practice.
He met Katherine Campbell in 1986 and his son, Tim, was born in 1988.
He moved to Denver in 1990 where he practiced law part time and managed apartments. In 2010 he moved back to Delta.
Mr. Trupp was an amateur astronomer and photographer. He enjoyed taking family portraits, running along the Cherry Creek Trail where he photographed wildlife, spending time with friends and meeting them at the Mennonite bakery, hanging out at coffee shops, working out at the recreation center, hunting, fishing, gardening, taking his dog, Max, to Sweitzer Lake or for a run along the Gunnison River, watching football, attending musical events and traveling to the Front Range and to New York to visit family members.
Mr. Trupp is survived by his daughter, Teresa "Terre" (Mark Roloson) Trupp; his son, Timothy (Sarah Sheldon) Campbell; his grandson, William Trupp-Roloson; his brother, Richard Trupp of Topeka, Kan.; his sister, Barbara Nichols of Aurora; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie "Misty."
