Joan Towne died Dec. 17, 2017, at Montrose Memorial Hospital. She was 76.
Joan Mabel Clemons was born in Remer, Minn., Oct. 30, 1941, to Ernest and Lydia (Ishman) Clemons. She spent her childhood and attended school in Remer and the Grand Rapids, Minn., areas.
Mrs. Towne worked with the elderly in St. Paul, Minn., and at Hinsdale Sanitarium and Hospital in Hinsdale, Ill., from 1962 to 1995, serving the last 22-plus years in telecommunications. She moved to Orchard City in 1996 and worked in electronic components assembly, community home care and as a part-time secretary until retirement in 2008.
On Nov. 8, 1978, she married Carl Towne in Hinsdale, Ill.
She was a member of the Cedaredge Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoyed needlecrafts, flowers, traveling, Christmas with family, classical concerts, exercise at Bill Heddles Recreation Center, birds and animals.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Carl; a niece, Jodi (Scott) Mathison; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by a sister, LaVerle Langel; and a brother, Vernon Clemons.
