Eckert resident JoAnne Graham died July 19, 2017, at Willow Tree Care Center in Delta. She was 94.
Funeral services took place July 21 at the First Baptist Church in Cedaredge with Pastor Dik Abbott officiating. Burial followed at Cedaredge Cemetery.
JoAnne Martin was born March 1, 1923, to Zenas and Ethel (Higgins) Martin in Telluride. She spent her early childhood on Hastings Mesa and in Ridgway before moving to Cedaredge. She attended school in Cedaredge and was the salutatorian for her graduating class from Eckert High School.
On April 15, 1940, she married Neil Graham in Moab, Utah.
After raising her family, Mrs. Graham graduated as an LPN from the vocational center in Delta as part of the very first nursing class. She worked as a nurse for 20 years and was a member of the staff that assisted Dr. Frey with opening Horizons Care Center. She was honored as Employee of the Year there in 1985.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cedaredge and she enjoyed reading; she was honored at her local library for being the most prolific reader for 10 years running.
Mrs. Graham is survived by her son, Bob (Helene) Graham of Wasilla, Alaska; daughter, Bonnie (Kenny) McCartney of Fort Collins; daughters, Carol Peterson of Eckert and Judy Drown of Kearney, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil Graham; an infant daughter; and a brother.
