John Franklin Barcus died Nov. 25, 2016, at the home of his daughter. He was 92.
He was born Sept. 26, 1924.
He is survived by two sons, Gary (Wendi) Barcus of Ventura, Calif., and Marty (Debbie) Barcus of Hamilton, Mont.; daughter, Janie (Duane) White of Grand Junction; granddaughter, Taylor Barcus; two stepgrandchildren, Heather King and Sean Beinlich; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Colin, Alex and Brooklyn King; and a sister, Elizabeth Hollandsworth of Durango.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Crawford Community United Methodist Church with Rev. Tonya Whaley officiating.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
