Longtime Eckert resident John "Ed" Douglass died Aug. 10, 2017, at Horizons Care Center. He was 89.
He was born Feb. 17, 1928, in Nebraska to James and Claretta (Brown) Douglass. He spent his childhood in Brule, Neb., where he also attended school.
In 1948, he married Dolores Andersen in Rock Springs, Wyo.
Mr. Douglass served in the United States Army and was a member of the Lutheran Church in Montrose. He was also on the board of directors for Shriners and helped transport senior citizens.
He enjoyed woodworking, traveling and being a ham radio operator.
He is survived by four sons, Carl Douglass of Appleton, Wis., Terry Douglass of Vernal, Utah, Lonnie Douglass of Craig and Tracy Douglass of Sterling; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Delores; and one son, Kelly Douglas.
