John Hallock

John H. Hallock, longtime resident of Delta, died April 3, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society in Loveland after a short illness. He was 98.

He was born in Delta on Dec. 8, 1918, to Luther and Lena Hallock.

He farmed with his father and brother Hubert for many years east of Delta. Mr. Hallock was recognized as farmer of the year and was awarded multiple times as the top bushel per acre corn producer. He also raised sugar beets for Holly Sugar and barley for Coors Brewing Company. In addition to farming, he had a herd of registered black angus cows and fed steers in the winter.

He married Phyllis Boyden and to this union two children were born. They later divorced.

In 1967, he married Pauline Connor. They moved to Buellton, Calif., in 1968 and returned to Delta in 1986. She preceded him in death in 2003.

Mr. Hallock was a life member of the Delta Elks Lodge, as he had been a member for 76 years. He enjoyed telling jokes and socializing with friends.

He is survived by his sons, John Charles "Chuck" (Sherry Baumgart) Hallock of Tucson, Ariz., and Jim (Linda) Hallock of Loveland; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; her children, Patsy, Carroll and Jeanne; a granddaughter, Dawn; brother, Hubert; and three sisters, Hazel, Dana and Melba.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. May 27 at the Olathe Cemetery. A reception will follow immediately at the Delta Elks Lodge.
