John Olin

John Clifford Olin died at his home in Paonia Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017. He was 71.

He was born in Denver Aug. 7, 1945, to John and Elizabeth (Walton) Olin. He spent his childhood in the Pleasant View area of Golden and graduated from Golden High School in 1963.

After high school he drove a tow truck servicing Lookout Mountain and the Lariat Trail. Later he drove truck and hauled and operated heavy equipment. He was a mechanic, fabricator and tinkerer his entire life.

On July 31, 1975, he married Rita Dillon at the Mother Cabrini Shrine in Golden.

In 1979, they moved to Paonia. Mr. Olin enjoyed his family, the mountains, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, jeeping, playing guitar and jamming with his buddies. Reading was a passion, especially about World War II, and he followed NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rita; daughters, Anita Olin of Englewood and Adrienne (Lance) Rall of Kearney, Neb.; granddaughter, Arelia "Lia" Rall of Kearney, Neb.; sisters, Kathy Walker of Arvada and Bessie Woodraska of Trenton, Neb.; brothers, David Olin of Arvada and Edd (Annie) Olin of Quincy, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Svec of Scribner, Neb., Roberta (Gilbert) Morfeld of Stanton, Neb., and Ellen Osborn of Scribner, Neb.; brothers-in-law, Robert (Beverly) Dillon of Cary, N.C., and William (Vicki) Dillon of Springfield, Neb.; and extended family.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, a sister-in-law and three brothers-in-law.

Cremation has taken place. A family graveside service will be held Sept. 9 at St. Henry's Catholic Cemetery in rural Howells, Neb.
