Paonia resident Josephine Walsh died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at Paonia Care Center in Paonia. She was 81.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 10, at the American Legion in Paonia.

Josephine Cecilia Lacombe was born in Fort Fitzgerald, Alberta, Canada, Dec. 2, 1933, to Joseph and Agatha (Mercredi) Lacombe. She spent her childhood and attended school in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories.

On April 19, 1974, she married Leonard Walsh in Leadville.

Mrs. Walsh was a member of the Eagles in Leadville and the American Legion in Paonia. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, knitting, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Hustead of Paonia and Alan Hustead of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; two sisters, Rita Wilie of Athabasca, Alberta, and Maggie Jacobson of Stony Plain, Alberta; two granddaughters, Stephanie Hustead and McKenzie Hustead; and one great-grandson, Carter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Leonard; two brothers; and five sisters.
