Joy Elliott-Bailey died July 24, 2016, at Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction. She was 80.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., July 28, at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta with David Whigham officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Delta City Cemetery.

Joy Eleanor was born in Denver on July 23, 1936, to Oscar and Ruth (Jackson) Mims.

Mrs. Elliott-Bailey grew up in Grants Pass, Ore., and moved to Avon in 1950. She graduated from Eagle County High School in Gypsum.

She married Clare Elliott in 1953. They had two children: a son, Daniel Clare Elliott, and a daughter, Jill Marie (Dave) Whigham.

In 1962, she moved to Vail and worked for Vail Associates until 1971. She operated and owned a business (Last Chance) in Gunnison from 1971 to 1977. In 1979, Joy settled in Delta.

Mrs. Elliott-Bailey was employed at Delta Savings and Loan for 17 years in bookkeeping.

Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
