June Alice Hartman Lawson died June 1, 2017. She was 78.
She was born in Saginaw, Mich., Jan. 20, 1939, to Bernard and Alice (Stoeckle) Hartman. She earned a nursing degree from St. Mary's School of Nursing. She worked in the nursing field for 50 years, 47 of them as a registered nurse.
Mrs. Lawson was a foster parent who operated an adult care home in Grand Junction for many years.
She was an accomplished artist who sold many paintings. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, sewing, reading, gardening and spending time with friends.
She is survived by three brothers, Bern (Ruth) Hartman of Saginaw, Mich., Alan (Sue) Hartman of Scottville, Mich., and Duane (Barbara) Hartman of Gaylord, Mich.; four sisters, Betty Hawkshaw of Ft. Charlotte, Fla., Sister Katrina Hartman of Grand Rapids, Mich., Dr. Nancy Artley of St. Cloud, Minn., and Jean Lupton of Ft. Charlotte, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Hartman of Bridgeport, Mich.; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Owen Lawson; two sisters, Patricia Keller and Wilma Counts; and her brother, John.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
