Mr. Mason in his letter denying climate change (10/21/15) talked about the satellite temperature record, but cited no articles. I was able to find some charts online, but none of them agree with Mr. Mason's assertions. http://www.drroyspencer.com/latest-global-temperatures/, www.skepticalscience.com/satellite-measurements-warming-troposphere.htm, and http://nsstc.uah.edu/climate/.
William H. Snyer, writing in the same edition of the DCI, did mention three climate skeptics by name so I was able to look them up. All three appear to be well-paid writers and speakers with connections to the Heartland Institute, a "think tank" which funnels money from the oil industry to climate change deniers. One of the men, Jay Lehr, science director for the Heartland Institute, has the distinction of having served three months in prison for an unrelated episode of dishonesty. It would be wonderful if these gentlemen were correct, but as long as 97 percent of scientists agree that climate change is real I'm going to vote for clean energy to be on the safe side.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
