Kathleen "Kathy" Lemon died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. She was 62.
She was born in Denver Feb. 27, 1953, to Jim and Patricia "Pat" (Thorn) Gibson. She lived the majority of her life in Delta, with brief periods in New York City, N.Y., Greeley and Denver. She graduated from Delta High School in 1971 and from the University of Northern Colorado in 1975. She married Gary Lemon of Delta in 1977.
Mrs. Lemon was an educator for over 30 years. She taught at Delta Middle School for many years before receiving her master's degree in counseling from the University of Colorado. She received an education specialist degree before retiring as assistant principal at Montrose High School.
She enjoyed traveling the world, gardening, playing golf, redecorating, crocheting, quilting, making fun and sentimental things for her grandchildren, and spending time with friends. She was active in many social clubs and other organizations including Xi Delta Eta Sorority, PEO (BK), the Methodist bell choir, Valley Symphony Chorus, Delta County Memorial Hospital Foundation, Delta Health and Wellness Clinic and Abraham Connection. She attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church where she was on the vestry until her health prevented attendance.
Mrs. Lemon is survived by her stepfather, Bruce Holmlund; her stepmother, Vivian Gibson; her children, Karissa (Jeff) DeTienne of Loveland, Kelsi (Nate) Wuebbels of East Hanover, N.J., and Isaac "Zac" (Amy) Lemon of Eaton; her brothers, Tom Gibson of Cottage Grove, Wis., Bill Gibson and Mike (Carlotta) Gibson, all of Delta; and five grandchildren, Evelyn, Elinor, Lucy, Calvin and Eliza.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Gibson and Pat Holmlund.
A memorial service was held Monday, Dec. 28, at the Delta Middle School auditorium. Interment followed at Delta City Cemetery.

At their March 5 meeting Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes made two appointments to the county planning commission. Steve Shea was reappointed for a three-year term.
